Do you have slugs in your garden? Let's hope not, but if you do I can hopefully help you in ridding yourself of these slimy pests. These pests can take over your garden, defoliate your flowers and this can be done in a very short period of time.
Are you perhaps raising chickens? Let a few loose around the garden beds before planting your crops and let them clean up the slugs and the slug eggs. Chickens actually love these slimy pests.
I have also used a mixture of vineger and water, half in half have sprayed this over my garden. Also salt will do the same and make these slimy pests just disappear in a few seconds. Your garden will be nice and clean with the vinegar and water.
Slugs do not like sand: if you can bring in a load of fine sand and spread around the garden, that should help. Put the sand around the base of your plants. It is the gritty texture of the sand that these pests do not like.
Don't forget that slugs love dog poop and also their relatives who have died in the garden: this sounds strange, but it is true. Take tweezers and pick up the slugs and feed them to your fish in the aquarium inside your home: save on fish food also, which is not a bad thought.
Are you perhaps growing English Walnuts in your garden? If so, you might want to grind them up and scatter them through the garden. Sprinkling ginger will also help as they do not like the scent of ginger.
I know you are wondering, will these slug killing thoughts work? Yes. I much prefer the vinegar and water solution in my sprayer as it is easy to spray and and is very inexpensive, a gallon of vineger and a gallon of water together will rid you of these slimy pests.
Check with your local plant nursery as they may even have a better plan, plus the new plan could be more fun also in ridding your garden of the slugs.
